Every summer morning Ellie and her grandmother go to the beach. They bathe, build sandcastles and, while Nonna reads, Ellie watches the other children play. One day, Ellie finds the courage to approach an older girl, Piper, who is having fun alone in a beached rowboat. Piper has a gift: her imagination is so big that she takes Ellie on great adventures, flying high in the air, swimming on the ocean floor and traveling everywhere aboard their little blue boat, their magic boat.
